Management Accountant, Part Qualified, Month-End Close, Balance Sheet Reconciliations

An interim Management Accountant opportunity has arisen with a growing UK-based manufacturing business that needs someone ready to contribute immediately to a busy finance function. The role spans everything from period-end close and compliance through to performance reporting and senior leadership support. The role requires a start by the 26th October, will run until the end of the year initially, is based fully-onsite in the Oxford office and is inside IR35

The Role

The Management Accountant will be responsible for a wide-ranging set of accounting duties, including owning the month-end close cycle, processing journals for accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition, and stock entries. You will assist in producing regular management accounts and KPI reporting packs, carry out thorough reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, and handle operational finance tasks including credit control oversight, supplier payment runs, bank reconciliation, and multi-jurisdiction indirect tax submissions. There is also scope to get involved in R&D tax credit preparation, grant-related submissions, and supporting the external audit process. The Management Accountant will collaborate across the wider organisation, feeding financial analysis and insight upward to support decisions at a strategic level.

The Company

This is an established UK-based manufacturing business with a turnover in the region of £10 million and a headcount of around 100 people. It operates in a specialist, product-focused sector and has both domestic and international dimensions to its operations. The finance team works in close partnership with colleagues from other areas of the business, so the Management Accountant will rarely be working in a silo and will enjoy broad cross-functional visibility.

What experience does the Management Accountant need?

  • Part-qualified with ACCA or CIMA, or holding a full AAT qualification, with practical experience contributing to periodic financial close and management reporting within a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to support variance analysis against budget, assist with liquidity and cash control processes, and ensure adherence to regulatory and tax obligations across relevant jurisdictions
  • Confident working in Excel, with any experience of working with ERP platforms highly beneficial
  • Prior exposure to a manufacturing or product-oriented setting is desirable, and any familiarity with US financial requirements alongside UK ones would be a useful bonus
