A Project Engineer opportunity has opened up with an established UK manufacturer operating in a specialist and highly rewarding sector. The Role
The Project Engineer will take the lead on the full lifecycle of vehicle conversion projects, from initial scope and planning through to delivery and handover. Day-to-day responsibilities will span engineering design using SolidWorks, creation of build manuals and technical documentation, quality gate definition, and cross-functional stakeholder management across departments including Sales, Production, and Procurement. You will also drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement activity, support supplier development, and contribute to vehicle testing — including occasional overseas trips. Compliance with UK and EU vehicle regulations sits at the heart of this position, and maintaining strong engineering governance through BOMs, ERP systems, and change management will be central to your work.

What experience does the Project Engineer need?
- A degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or a closely related engineering discipline, with at least four years of experience in a comparable engineering role
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and technical drawing, combined with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication and steelwork
- Familiarity with UK and EU vehicle regulations and type approval processes, with the ability to manage compliance across a full project lifecycle
- Demonstrable project management capability, strong organisational skills, and experience working across multiple stakeholder groups — knowledge of Lean or continuous improvement methodologies is a strong advantage
