A Linux Systems Engineer / DevOps Engineer is required to join a leading Scientific R&D organisation, based-in Oxford.

What will I be doing?
The successful Linux Systems Engineer / DevOps Engineer will join an in-house team of contributing to the support and Maintenance of the Linux estate, ensuring system security as well as building, supporting and maintaining core infrastructure.

This position is suitable for a junior – Mid-level candidate looking to join a fast-paced environment and skyrocket their career. You will have the opportunity to mould the position and make it your own, guiding their career development across a range of projects relating to HPC cluster management and/ or the development, maintenance and troubleshooting of Linux-based machines; working with both Python & Bash.

The ideal candidate will have…

  • A relevant degree within Software Engineering such as a CompSci or relevant training & experience within a commercial setting
  • Sound experience of Linux – Ubuntu is preferred but experience across any flavours is welcomed
  • Scripting skills in either Python or Bash
  • An awareness of configuration management tools such as Ansible
  • A strong and in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and other core networking technologies
  • Experience integrating with AD and other windows services
  • Experience within a mixed Windows – Linux environment is highly desirable as well as any experience of HPC Systems such as Sun Grid Engine
