My client, an innovative and forward-thinking start-up within the Med-Tech industry are seeking a talented Lead Software Engineer to join their newly developed team on a remote basis, with travel to Cambridge offices once per week.

The successful Lead Software Engineer will be tasked with leading on all things related to Software Development for both the company’s infrastructure software as well as the development of solutions for the cloud platform. You will lead an Agile team of talented Engineers to build and maintain large scalable databases working on Big data management using Apache Hadoop and similar tools.

The ideal candidate will have…

  • A degree within a relevant field such as Computer science or Engineering
  • Proven commercial experience as a Software Developer with proven backend development experience using Python as well as experience working with relevant Python frameworks such as Django and similar
  • Sound experience leading a team – ideally agile teams with experience of Jira and similar project management software
  • Experience of building and maintaining large scalable SQL, NoSQL and Graph databases, with experience of distributed architectures for big data; Apache Hadoop and similar
  • Experience of REST APIs and a sound understanding of Cloud tech – GCP is preferred
  • Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience developing machine learning solutions
  • Image processing methodology experience, specifically for 2D image alignment, denoising / artefact removal
  • Prior commercial experience developing regulated medical products with an understanding of relevant ISO standards and regulations e.g. ISO 13485, ISO 27001, FDA and MHRA class 2 development lifecycle is highly advantageous
