Description

This is a rare opportunity to become the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) for a brand new company being spun out of Oxford University. With the mission to revolutionise the search for an effective treatment for Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia, they are building upon more than 20 years of world class research to make a step change in MRI medical diagnostics.

The Role
Joining the company’s founders, the CTO will be responsible for the overall architecture and development of the software that forms the core technology of the company. The CTO will lead the delivery of the initial phase of software development, before building a team of developers as the company grows.

The CTO will extend and maintain the existing CDM analysis software tools, ensuring that software development conforms to regulatory requirements and quality standards, as well as enabling deployment in different environments such as cloud-based systems. The CTO will assist with the implementation and development of both image analysis algorithms and AI machine learning algorithms that can be integrated with the software.

Relevant Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate for this CTO position will have hands on experience in software development, specifically around SaaS products and medical devices. Key areas of skill and expertise include:
• Demonstrate experience as a Systems Architect within a small team, working hands on writing code as well as leading other developers.
• Excellent programming skills (including with Python) and ideally some experience with writing software for data analysis, including knowledge of how to assess the performance of data analysis methods.
• Knowledge of machine learning algorithms, especially deep learning frameworks (e.g., Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch, Caffe, etc.) is advantageous.
• Experience of leading a medical software project from the early stages to product release and support would of course be useful, as would any experience within the field of image analysis, in particular, with structural MRI and diffusion MRI.
