As part of an ongoing digital transformation, this leading international law firm seeks a commercially experienced Machine Learning Engineer with experience of building NLP systems, to help them as they continue to apply cutting-edge technology to solve problems and automate processes.  With offices around the UK, there is the opportunity to work on either a fully-remote or hybrid basis.

The Role

Working within a talented team of Data professionals with a broad scope and a range of specialisms, the Machine Learning Engineer will use their experience to raise the level of ML and NLP skill, knowledge and capability across the team, designing, building and optimising NLP machine learning models for use in a variety of tools, solutions and applications, centred mainly on textual analysis and search functionality, applied to vast quantities of text-based data, both structured and unstructured.

What’s Required?

  • Commercial experience in building NLP systems with the demonstrated ability to translate cutting edge research into working applications
  • Experience of designing AI solutions on cloud technologies, with Azure preferred
  • Linked to the above, experience with as many/any of the following tools:  Azure Cognitive Services and Azure Applied AI services, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Gen2
  • Experience of designing, deploying, building, testing and maintaining machine learning models in a production environment
  • Experience in scaling and productionising ML and AI models
  • Skill in the use of Python, with experience with Python libraries like SpaCy, NumPy, Pandas, SciKItLearn an advantage

This is a great opportunity for a Data Scientist (commercial or academic) with strong statistical, mathematical and modelling skills, to join a world-class scientific R&D organisation, with offices across the globe.

Package

Along with a competitive basic salary, the Data Scientist position also attracts a bonus scheme which is targeted at 10% of basic salary, but has been paying out above target over recent years, a pension contribution of 5%, although they’ll match contributions to 10%, private medical cover and life assurance.  Holidays are set at 25 days + bank holidays and they operate a flexible 37.5 hour week.  Whilst up to two days a week remote working is possible, their offices are easily commutable from the A34 and there is free parking on site.

The successful Data Scientist is likely to have:
