This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer looking for a new technical challenge, or for a recent graduate looking to focus their career within Machine Learning! 

They have developed a pioneering IoT application focussing on renewable energy systems, and as a result, have access to an enormous amount of data. This data isn’t being utilised and the company need a Machine Learning Engineer / Statistician  to interrogate, analyse and provide insight, allowing the organisation to explore new products and even break in to new markets!

As the Machine Learning Engineer / Statistician you will join at an exciting time of growth, joining a small team of exceptionally talented Data Scientists, you will utilise Python to develop statistical tools and models, analysing vast quantities of complex data.  

 

What’s required of the Machine Learning Engineer? 

  • A degree in Software Engineering, Statistics or relevant field 
  • Experience designing and developing algorithms 
  • Experience with Python for statistically modelling
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Any experience with Machine Learning tools such as Tensorflow and/or PyTorch would be highly sought after

The Opportunity

As part of a digital transformation, the Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist will hold a strategic, largely hands-off position, leading a small, international team of Data Scientists and Statisticians, to actively support and promote Data Science across the business.  Working closely with scientists and engineers, the Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist will lead the team to drive the continuous improvement of processes, platforms, and tools to actively support Data Science within the business, will identify opportunities to further develop advanced Data Science capabilities within the organisation and will promote advanced data visualisation capabilities, all with the aim of using data to provide insights, solve problems, and enable superior data-driven decision making.

The successful Data Manager / Lead Data Scientist is likely to have:

  • Strong, relevant data-based academics, ideally Maths, Statistics, Data Science or a scientific field with a strong statistical content
  • Experience leading/managing technical teams – whilst a Data Science team is preferred, experience from related teams such as molecular modelling, bioinformatics etc., could also be relevant
  • Previous commercial experience in areas such as data science, statistical analysis and software, machine learning, Python, etc.
  • R&D / research experience would be advantageous

We’re looking for a passionate Research Scientist, with a focus on computer vision to join an incredible scientific R&D company, to help them develop software for their cutting-edge medical devices. 

 

This innovative start-up, is set to become a market leader in their industry and this is an excellent opportunity for a Research Scientist to work to develop an application that will genuinely save lives!

 

Working from home and flexible working are both available – the successful Computer Vision Scientist is only required to be in the Nottingham office for approximately 20% of the time, so a day a week for example. 

 

Joining a small team of exceptionally talented individuals, you will be the sole Research Scientist and will have lots of autonomy and a real say in the technical direction moving forwards. You will utilise Cuda or OpenCL to implement various computer vision image-processing algorithms on a GPU, embedded in a pioneering software application.

Working within a talented team of Data professionals with a broad scope and a range of specialisms, the Machine Learning Engineer will use their experience to raise the level of ML and NLP skill, knowledge and capability across the team, designing, building and optimising NLP machine learning models for use in a variety of tools, solutions and applications, centred mainly on textual analysis and search functionality, applied to vast quantities of text-based data, both structured and unstructured.
